Students will be able to do one-person projects as well as participate in group projects.

Homework projects are always one-person projects, unless the teacher informs a group that they may do homework together. Ask the teacher if there is a question - - by email, or in person before or after class.

A reminder: Students who are absent when one-person projects were explained should contact another student to find out project details.

EXTRA CREDIT

Students will be allowed to do extra-credit projects for 100 points each project during each Unit. They may pick their extra credit projects from the teacher's list, or may choose to do their own project.

Each extra credit project must be OK'd by the teacher before going ahead with the project.

Extra Credit projects will be available about the middle of each Unit or before. Ask the teacher about these after class or before class if you are interested. They may also be posted on the wall, or available as a handout.

Students may choose one other person to do an extra credit project with with permission of the teacher for some projects.

If given an OK, Each student on a two-person project must fill out a Group Rubric on each other to turn in with the extra credit project.

If two people give the same one-person project, both people will receive a zero, unless one person took the idea and project from the other without their knowledge.

All extra credit projects must have a list of sources used. Two sources must be library books. The sources page must be done using MLA or APA format.

Projects without sources will receive a low grade (see rubrics).

YOUR ADDITIONAL PROJECT (optional - up to teacher)

Each student may choose an additional Project this year. These will be up to the teacher.)

THE END

THIS MARKS THE END OF ONE PERSON PROJECTS FOR ALL CLASSES EXCEPT ENGLISH. See below for English class ideas.

ENGLISH CLASS IDEAS FOLLOW:

These will be available during the first or second Unit. Each student will pick a subject and present this Grammar subject in front of the class.

This will be another one-person project. Signups and rubrics will be available for students before the assignment is given.

You may want to think about what grammar topic you want to present. Some of these will be: nouns, verbs, adverbs, sentence structure, and adjectives.

YOUR BOOK REPORTS

Every student will select a total of two full-length novels to read from the assigned book list. Students will be given SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) time at school to read their novels. After the books are read, each student will pick a report to do. Choices of activities are available.

PORTFOLIO PIECES

Each student will be given the opportunity to write pieces that are of portfolio quality, including essays, personal writing, transactive writing, and poetry. You will be also able to do extra credit writing that is of high quality and may very well end up on your portfolio. This is your opportunity to get creative and have fun with your writing this semester.
